Doctoral Colloquium

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce and invite you to the Pre-Conference Doctoral Colloquium of the upcoming XXVI CROMAR Congress that will be organized on Wednesday, 11th December 2019, at the Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Zagreb.

The Doctoral Colloquium will be led by Professor Mary Brennan, PhD, from the University of Edinburgh Business School.

The aim of the Colloquium is to provide PhD students with the opportunity to present their PhD research proposals to their peers, potential mentors and other professors, as well as to receive valuable feedback on their proposals.

The Colloquium will be held in English. Doctoral students who would like to participate with their presentation, should submit their doctoral research proposal to cromar2019@net.efzg.hr by 1st December 2019.

Doctoral students also have the possibility to participate the Colloquium without presenting their doctoral thesis proposal.

In accordance with the decision issued by the Committee for Postgraduate University (Doctoral) Study (of The Faculty of Economics and Business Zagreb), the Doctoral Colloquium shall be recognized as the 1st or 2nd Research Workshop.

The 1st and 2nd Research Workshops form the basis for preparing the draft of doctoral thesis proposal and for the application of the doctoral thesis as well.

The propositions of the 1st and 2nd Research Workshop are as follows.

1st Research Workshop

PhD students should submit the written material of approximately 12-15 pages in length. The oral presentation at the workshop should include:

- the PhD area

- the selected topic of doctoral thesis,

- the research problem,

- the methods to be generally used in the research,

- a list of references pertaining to the field of research.

After the PhD student’s 10-minute oral presentation, the topic proposal and the research problem shall be discussed, and comments will be given in order to advance the doctoral thesis research proposal.

The 1st Research Workshop is attended by PhD students, potential mentors, other professors on the Doctoral Study program, and the members of the Committee for Postgraduate University (Doctoral) Study.

IMPORTANT NOTE! The signatures of the PhD candidate and the potential mentor should be included at the end of the PhD student’s written material.


2nd Research Workshop

PhD students should submit the written material listing and explaining the variables, among others, according to the following table (please, follow the link, in Croatian). The submitted material should be approximately 12-15 pages in length. The oral presentation at the workshop should include:

- the disposition of the doctoral thesis,

- the objectives of the doctoral thesis,

- the doctoral thesis hypotheses

- the methods to prove a particular hypothesis

After the PhD student’s 10-minute oral presentation, a discussion will follow on the disposition of the doctoral thesis, the research objectives, the hypotheses, and the research methods to produce comments aimed at advancing the proposal.

The 2nd Research Workshop is attended by PhD students, potential mentors, other professors of the Doctoral Study program, and the members of the Committee for Postgraduate University (Doctoral) Study.
